Title: How to Sign a Crypto Transaction Without a Copy of the Key?
Abstract: Digital signatures are a core element of Blockchain crypto trading – A Blockchain transaction is valid only if the sender signs it. The problem is that if the sender holds the signing key, a hacker might steal it and gain access to the funds. Secure Multi-Party Computation (MPC) provides a solution by enabling the sender to sign transactions without ever holding the key in a single place. In this talk, we’ll talk about digital signatures in crypto, the popular signing algorithm ECDSA (used by Bitcoin, and many other cryptocurrencies), and GK8’s MPC-based solution for ECDSA signing that never requires holding a copy of the key.
Speaker Bio: Dr. Dor Bitan is a cryptographer at GK8. He works on developing real-world solutions to store and manage crypto assets securely. Previously, he received his Ph.D.
in mathematics from Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Israel, and continued as a postdoctoral researcher at the Simons Institute for the Theory of Computing at UC Berkeley,
where he worked on DARPA's SIEVE project.
