1st Prize Poster at the Israel Brain Tech!
The Zlotowski Center for Neuroscience congratulates the lab of Dr. Oren Shriki for winning two prizes in recent events:
The poster "Modular Customizable Brain-Computer Interface for ALS Patients.pdf" won first place in the poster competition at the Israel Brain Tech meeting, which was held on March 11-12 in Tel-Aviv.
The project was initiated and pursued by Yotam Luz from the lab of Maoz Shamir and his friend Gal Sont, who suffers from ALS. Gal is a computer programmer and he is writing substantial parts of the code for the project using a virtual keyboard and an eye tracking device..
In addition, The project "Mind over Mindstorms", in which the lab of Dr. Oren Shriki developed a brain-computer interface to control a Lego Mindstorms robot, won third place at The Brainihack Hackathon, which was held on March 13-14 in Tel-Aviv.
The system allows the user to control left and right turns of a Lego robot by imagining left or right hand movements. The students who worked on the project are Eyal Zakkay (3rd year undergrad, Electrical Engineering) and Shaked Matar(2nd year undergrad, Cognitive and Brain Sciences). Their project was based on previous work in the lab by Dr. Amjad Abu-Rmileh and Eyal Zakkay.
