Division of Community Health

Primary Pediatric Care Unit

Objectives:

Education:

The unit strives to provide high-quality training for medical students, exposing them to the full scope of comprehensive community pediatric care. This training combines traditional academic instruction in the classroom with hands-on, apprentice-style learning at the physician’s side during clinical practice.

In addition, the unit supports the professional development of pediatric residents and community pediatric healthcare teams, focusing on issues unique to community practice.

Through these efforts, the unit seeks to improve the quality and relevance of care provided to children in the Negev, particularly regarding the most prevalent issues in community pediatric medicine.

Research:

The unit encourages and supports physicians in conducting research within the field of community pediatrics, recognizing the vast body of knowledge and rich data resources available in community settings. Investigating these can lead to better-informed, evidence-based care for pediatric patients.

Furthermore, engaging in research expands and sharpens the clinical and scientific knowledge of the physician-researcher, thereby contributing directly to improving the quality of care—our primary goal.
