Nuclear Physics & Dosimetry
The elementary particles and their interactions, quantum chromodynamics, theories beyond the standard model, physics of particle accelerators, quantum gravity, string theory, gravitational holography, black holes, cosmology, alternative theories of gravity, dark energy and dark matter, nuclear physics at high energies, collisions of ions. Heavy, dense, and hot nuclear material. Quantum field theory, quantum information.
Condensed matter & statistical mechanics
Quantum materials, including materials with strong electronic correlations or materials with special electronic properties (including superconductivity and magnetism), the quantum Hall effect, topological insulators, topological superconductors, and materials that behave according to the Dirac equation (including graphene and the Weyl recipe). Bosonic systems at low temperatures, Einstein Bose condensation, atomic chips, random systems, out-of-equilibrium dynamics, and advanced numerical methods for treating quantum systems. Amorphous materials and thin layers, elastic and electrical properties, tunneling microscopy, magnetic resonance spectroscopy at the single molecule level - electronic and nuclear magnetic resonance. Fabrication of nanostructures in an electron microscope and an ion microscope to produce characterization components of various quantum phenomena. Space physics, plasma, high energies, cosmology, solar system, extrasolar solar planets, stars, black holes, pulsars, magnetars, quasars, galactic supernovae, galaxy clusters, the cosmic fabric, cosmic rays, and radiation, gravitational waves, gravitational collapse, structure evolution In the universe, dark matter, dark energy, gamma and radio bursts.
DNA Biophysics and Biological Systems
Biophysics of DNA and proteins, mechanisms in cell division, physics of the immune system.
Laboratories are available for experimental research - interaction for material production, biophysics of cells, biophysics of single molecules, materials with strong correlations, single atoms, nanophotonics and atomic sciences, medical physics, magneto-optical magnetometry, superconductivity, and ultrasound.
