About the Program

The two-year MA program in literary studies offers both a thesis (research) track and a non-thesis (general) track, awarding an MA degree in Foreign Literatures. (In practice, studying for the MA degree sometimes requires three years.)

  • The program explores British and American literature and other literature in English (or translated into English) in the context of cross-cultural, interdisciplinary, and comparative approaches.
  • The courses are taught by internationally renowned scholars who employ various theoretical and cultural approaches.
  • Students come from multiple backgrounds, creating a pluralistic academic community.
  • The informal atmosphere in a relatively small department provides a nurturing learning environment, allowing for individual attention and guidance.

The program familiarizes students with current research topics in the field; engages them in academic discourse, research methodologies, and critical reasoning; and trains them in academic writing and usage of literary criticism and relevant theories. Students in the thesis track conduct original research and contribute to knowledge in the field.

Requirements for Registration

The registration conditions are correct at this time and are subject to change depending on supply and demand. To secure your place in the program you wish to be admitted to at an early stage, we recommend that you register early.

Applicants must have completed a BA in English/Comparative Literature with a grade point average of 85 or above (for the thesis track) or 80 and above (for the non-thesis track) from an accredited institution.

Applicants who do not have the requisite background in literature will be required to complete a range of BA courses before they can be admitted as full-time MA students. 

The graduate committee decides on a case-by-case basis which courses these students must complete.

  • A copy of the applicant's undergraduate diploma
  • A copy of the applicant's academic transcripts
  • A Copy of the applicant's  TOEFL/IETLS score
  • A copy of the first page of your passport
  • A copy of your C.V.
