Barbara HochmanBen-Gurion UniversityBarbara Hochman is Associate Professor in the Department of Foreign Literatures and Linguistics, Ben Gurion Unversity. She is the author of The Art of Frank Norris, Storyteller (U Missouri Press 1988) and Getting at the Author: Reimagining Books and Reading in the Age of American Realism (U Mass Press 2001). Her work on 19th and 20th-century American fiction has appeared in American Literature, American Literary Realism, Book History, English Literary History, Novel, Style, and such collections as The Cambridge Companion to American Realism and Naturalism. Her research interests include both historical and theoretical approaches to narration and reading. Her current work-in-progress, Uncle Tom's Cabin and the Reading Revolution has been funded by grants from the American Antiquarian Society, the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the Israel Science Foundation. |
