Matthew P. Brown

Matthew P. Brown is Director of the Center for the Book at the University of Iowa, where he is also Associate Professor in the Center and the English Department. He is the author of The Pilgrim and the Bee: Reading Rituals and Book Culture in Early New England (Philadelphia, 2007). His essays and review-essays have appeared in American Quarterly, American Literary History, Cultural Studies, the Papers of the Bibliographical Society of America, and PMLA. He is working on a second book, an investigation of how the constraints of the print shop affected the literary culture and reading habits of eighteenth-century America.
