Eitan Bar-Yosef is Senior Lecturer in the Department of Foreign Literatures and Linguistics, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Israel. He is author of The Holy Land in English Culture, 1799-1917: Palestine and the Question of Orientalism (Oxford University Press, 2005) and coeditor, with Nadia Valman, of The "Jew" in Late-Victorian and Edwardian Culture: Between the East End and East Africa (Palgrave, forthcoming). He is currently working on a study which explores the role played by "Black Africa" in the Zionist imagination.
