Information for BGU visitors including map and direction: click here. The physics department dwells in building number 54. You see it as you come out of the Mexico bridge from the train station. The eastern wing of the building if for research and administration, while the western wing is for teaching laboratories including the Ilan Ramon youth physics center (מרכז אילן רמון לנוער שוחר פיסיקה). The physics administration office is located in room 114, in the first floor of the research and administration wing.

The physics Department conducts experimental and theoretical research programs in many cutting edge areas of current interest.

There are currently about twenty senior staff members aided by about fifty PhD students, and about 15 research "kamea" fellows. Many of the latter also conduct independent research and have been awarded research grants from highly competitive agencies. An additional three staff members are jointly affiliated with the Department of Energy and Environmental Physics situated in the Jacob Blaustein Institute for Desert Research at the Sede Boker campus.

Our Physics Department is responsible for the teaching of Physics to all the units of the University and full programs of study are offered leading to the BSc, MSc and PhD degrees in Physics. (The MSc program has either a general or an electrooptics program). There are six BSc study tracks:

המחלקה כיום מונה כ-20 חברי סגל בכיר המסתייעים בכ-50 סטודנטים ל PhD וכ-15 חוקרים במינוי "קמע". רבים מחוקרי קמע מבצעים מחקר עצמאי וזוכים במענקי מחקר תחרותיים ויוקרתיים. בנוסף ישנם שלושה חברי סגל מהמחלקה לאנרגיה ופיסיקה של הסביבה, מהמכון לחקר המדבר ע"ש יעקב בלאושטיין בשדה בוקר, שלהם מינוי משותף עם המחלקה לפיסיקה.

המחלקה לפיסיקה אחראית על הוראת הפיסיקה לכל היחידות באוניברסיטה, מסלולים ותכניות לימוד מלאות מוצעים לסטודנטים לתארים ראשון BSc, שני MSc, ושלישי PhD. (תכנית הלימודים לתואר שני כוללת שני מסלולים: פיסיקה כללית ואלקטרואופטיקה). ישנם שבעה מסלולי לימוד לתואר ראשון:

General Information
