The name Hagar
provides the root for words in both Hebrew and Arabic which depict the journal’s
multiple perspectives: Hagira’ and ‘Muhajara’(immigration), Gerim (foreigners) and
Hijra (‘journey’).
Hagar
invokes the border region, the movement and the marginality which is often overlooked in
mainstream social science.
