Rural Wings
This Integrated Project, coordinated by the Polytechnic University of Athens, aims at providing rural communities across Europe with broadband Internet connection through satellite. CFE has a double-role in the project: we act as the national coordinator of Israel's rural communities participating in the project - Bedouin communities in the Negev desert. In addition, we co-lead the pedagogical activities in the project together with Ellinogermaniki Agogi (Greece) and INSEAD (France). The latter task consists of establishing usage scenarios and methodological guidelines for Internet usage in educational and vocational context in rural communities.
The project is financed by the European Commission 6th FP for Research, Technological Development and Demonstration - Satellite Communication Programme.
Project Duration: 4 years, beginning January 2006.
