About the Lecture

In this talk, we explore the use of voice analysis as a tool for detecting depression, a vital mental health issue affecting millions globally. We will discuss the unique challenges faced in this area, including the complexity of accurately detecting emotional states from acoustic features and the difficulties of working with small datasets. In this talk we will survey a novel pipeline for data collection, involving personal interviews and clinically validated labeling methods. By leveraging machine learning, we demonstrate how high-quality, targeted data can enhance the accuracy of depression detection, achieving significant improvements over traditional methods. Join us as we delve into the intersection of voice, technology, and mental health and showcase the potential for innovative solutions in mental health care.
