Twenty years after An Inconvenient Truth first brought the climate crisis to the forefront of the global agenda, and a decade after the Paris Agreement, the most significant international effort to curb the crisis, it appears that once again we stand powerless in the face of a changing climate. Populist leaders and major corporations continue to set the tone, while heatwaves, wildfires, and floods are reshaping our lives.

At the fourth Climate Conference of Haaretz and Ben-Gurion University, we will address the failure of global diplomacy in confronting the crisis; the pivotal role China plays in the global energy transition; China’s own energy revolution; the prospects for removing carbon from the atmosphere; and what Jewish sources have to say about stewardship of creation, the environment, and climate—alongside additional related topics.

The conference is expected to take place in a hybrid format, including an in-person event with 500 participants, as well as a live online broadcast on the Haaretz website.
