ELECTRONIC JOURNALS – GENERAL INFORMATION
The Aranne Library subscribes to electronic journals under two types of licenses:
1) MALMAD - Consortium License:
The
Israeli Academic libraries have formed a consortium with the aim of providing
the universities' clients with access
to electronic journals and
databases. The system recognizes the
user by computer IP address and authorizes access
to the requested
journal. An Israeli university IP is
required for authorization. (The IP
address is the specific number
identifying the university's computers.)
2) Ben-Gurion University License:
Some
electronic journal subscriptions are specific to Ben-Gurion University alone. In these cases a Ben-Gurion University IP
is
required for authorization.
SEARCHING
THE COLLECTION FOR ELECTRONIC JOURNALS:
Electronic
journals are listed in the ALEPH catalog in the same manner as print journals. Search ALEPH by journal name;
the
bibliographic record for the journal includes a link to its online site. Users searching from a computer with
a
Ben-Gurion University IP will be able to open the full-text of all issues to
which the library has a subscription.
Please be aware that, according to copyright law and our agreements with
the publishers, the downloading of complete journal issues
or substantial
portions of e-books is not permitted. Breaking this rule will result in the
denial of access to all Ben-Gurion University users.
OBTAINING ARTICLES NOT IN THE ARANNE LIBRARY:
Articles
in journals not owned by the Aranne library can be requested through interlibrary
loan, in person or via our homepage.
(Click on "Circulation&Forms".)
To check if the journal is owned by another library in Israel,
search ULS (journals in all formats)
or ULE (electronic journals only). ULS and ULE can be accessed from the library
homepage under "National Catalogs & Databases".
Material can also be obtained from libraries
abroad.
