Prof. Shaul Sorek
Research Interests
- Mathematical modeling of mass momentum and energy transport through porous/fractured media (groundwater and bio-systems) of multiphase, multicomponent together with chemical reactions
- Numerical methods
- Sensitivity analysis
- Inverse methods
- Wave propagation through porous media
Research Projects for M.Sc.
- Solute transport following abrupt pressure change Model and experimental study concerning shock wave propagation in porous media together with solute transport
- - Modeling of natural convection in large fractures based on existing field data of a fractured porous medium
- Managing groundwater quality and quantity, stressed by saltwater intrusion, by trial and error simulations of different pumping scenarios
- Theoretical/Numerical developments
- Extending the macroscopic balance equations for CFD problems in porous media. Accounting for the, usually neglected, deviation terms and additional transfer terms at the phases interfaces
