Land cover/Land use Change and Water Management in Arid Regions: Remote Sensing Applications in the Middle East

Objectives: The objective of the workshop is to promote a coordinated effort among scientists studying sustainable land use and water management in the arid and semi-arid environments of the Middle East.

Emphasis: Remote sensing methods, combined with in situ measurements, for assessing, monitoring and modeling of land cover/land use change and water management in arid regions.

Expected outcomes:

• Draft for a proposal for consolidation of current projects into a regional scientific network for remote sensing arid land applications in the Middle East;
• Pinpointing directions for developments on this subject in the next decade;
• A special issue of selected scientific papers in the International Journal of Remote Sensing.
